Kent Jackson

Kent Jackson is a Partner at SOM, leading projects throughout Europe and internationally out of the London studio. Most notably, these include the renovation of the United Nations’ Palais de Nations complex in Geneva; Karlatornet, Scandinavia’s tallest building in Gothenburg; and Charenton-Bercy, Paris’s first net-zero carbon district.
As part of the core team at SOM responsible for Urban Sequoia–a radical systems-based approach to build resilient cities–Kent is passionate about cross-sector collaboration to develop carbon-positive solutions at scale. He is also a leader of SOM’s Climate Action Group, advancing the firm’s commitment for all active work to be net zero whole-life carbon by 2040.
Kent speaks widely at conferences and universities around the world. In 2021, he was invited by the United Nations to speak at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference. The following year, he delivered a TEDx talk at Goodenough College about Urban Sequoia, and in 2015, he spoke at TEDxUCL on the theme of growth. As a Global Ambassador for the World Green Building Council, he also works to amplify the call to action for governments and policymakers to accelerate the transition to net-zero carbon buildings.
